‘Go Purple’ for International Day of Persons with Disabilities

by swisscottage / December 3rd, 2019 / in Uncategorized / 0 Comments

#PurpleLightUp takes place on Tuesday 3rd December 2019, a celebration of the economic contribution of disabled people across the world which aims to improve disability business inclusion.

Swiss Cottage School have joined the #PurpleLightUp movement to highlight this year’s theme: the importance of employing people with disabilities. We have ‘gone purple’ as a sign of our pledge in supporting the power of our pupils in the world of work.

We are showcasing this through our ‘EmployMEnt Pathway’ which will be highlighted throughout the day on our social media and website!

The EmployMEnt Pathway provides a meaningful and functional Work Experience and in-house Supported Internship pathway for pupils in Post-16. It supports pupils to understand and be motivated to join the world of work. We also aim to successfully engage with the community to build capacity with local employers in how to support people with SEND into employment.

#PurpleLightUp, powered by PurpleSpace, is a global mark of solidarity.

For those who take part, it is their way of signalling one of three things.

#one – Your employer’s CEO has signed up to the #Valuable500 movement and / or has has agreed to put disability on the board agenda.

#two – Your organisation wants to improve the lived experience of disabled employees and learn directly from its own people via networks all connected through the Pur – pleSpace community.

#three – You are an ally of our movement and you are supporting our campaign 365 days a year and our commitment to build disability confidence from the inside out.
