Year 7 Literacy & Numeracy Grant

The school receives Department for Education funding in the amount of £500 per learner in Year 7 for ‘Catch-up Literacy and Numeracy’ to support interventions at the entry to Key Stage 3.

In 2014-2015 the allocated funding for 17 learners was £8,500.

The expected funding in 2015-2016 for 14 learners is £7,000 (which will be confirmed in February 2016).

The school utilises this funding in two ways:

1)      To support the cost of a Literacy Intervention Teaching Assistant and a Numeracy Intervention Teaching Assistant for learners working at or above P8

2)      To purchase specialist resources which are age appropriate to promote learning priorities for cognition and communication for learners working at or below P7.

The impact of this funding is monitored through the Pupil Progress and Provision Governing Body Committee, through hard and soft data analysis.
