Swiss Cottage School, Development and Research Centre is a special needs school in the London Borough of Camden. We have 239 pupils aged 2 to 19 who are identified with complex needs. Our school provision is focused on recognising the potential of each individual pupil. We are committed to providing an outstanding standard of education through meaningful research which informs our teaching and learning approaches. Our school is focused on positive relationships, and embraces a multi-agency provision which places the pupil and their family at the core of everything we aim to do. Swiss Cottage Specialist SEN School is a highly successful (6 consecutive “Outstanding” Ofsted inspections) specialist special school for 232 children aged 2-19 with complex needs. We are based in a modern purpose built building close to Swiss Cottage underground station.

 

Swiss Cottage School is currently recruiting for the following roles:

We are currently recruiting Playworkers to work with our out of hours Playzone team. Playzone is a local authority referral service for children aged 4 – 12yrs.

 

HR Manager

Salary – NJC Scale PO1, spinal point 33 – 36 (£33,458 – £35,771)

Note: Swiss Cottage is prepared to consider a higher salary range for an exceptional candidate.

35 hours per week – Full-time

Note: Subject to meeting the needs of service delivery, Swiss Cottage may consider a term-time plus weeks variation.

We are looking for an experienced and accomplished Human Resources Manager to join the school. This post is a vital role in the school, providing operational human resources support and professional HR advice to   staff, the senior leadership team and the governing body.

Playworker

Fixed-term contract until March 2019, Scale 4 Point 18 (Pro-rata)

The post-holder will work as part of an enthusiastic team to deliver an excellent, age appropriate, inclusive play and care service for children with a range of SEND.

The job requires employees to work the following days: Saturdays

This contract entails working all Saturdays during term time from 10:15 – 16:15 (6 hours per day).

Essential requirement: Level 2 Literacy & Mathematics

SEN Care Assistants

Scale 2 Point 11 – 13. Gross salary – £19,734 – £20,401 (Pro-rated £8,073.84 – £8,205.48) based on a 16 hour week, 39 weeks per year permanent contract.

The post-holder will ensure the supervision, safety and welfare of students during the midday break in the dining, social and circulation areas, help with feeding, toileting (personal care) and other support programmes as necessary. Level 2 Literacy is a requirement however you can sit a test with us to prove your level if you do not have the qualification.

Teaching Assistant

Scale 4 Point 18 – 21 (pro-rated £18,622.56 – £20,040.72) 34 hour week, 39 weeks per year]

Teaching Assistants are fundamental to the holistic progress our pupils achieve.  We require experience and confidence in supporting learners with complex communication needs, who may be pre-verbal or non-verbal. Experience with complex needs in Early Years, Primary, and/or Secondary Special Needs Provisions will be valuable to support our philosophies towards learning.

We want to make sure you understand our school provision and the expectations of the role. Tours and classroom observations are available on request. Please contact the school to book a time to visit if interested.

Essential Requirements:

  • Knowledge and understanding of special educational needs through experience in the classroom
  • Knowledge and understanding of special educational needs through completion of relevant courses and training, demonstrating a commitment to continued professional development and learning (CPDL)
  • Positive attitude and positive behaviour management philosophies
  • Qualifications at Level 2 in literacy and numeracy

Desirable:

  • Experience with research related to special educational needs
