Hackney Marshes, the spiritual home of grassroots football in England, was host to a fantastic day of sporting action as the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games disability football kicked off the summer season. Learners from Swiss Cottage fiercely completed against a number of other special schools from across London. The Balfour Beatty London Youth Games is Europe’s largest youth sports festival and this year’s football terminate saw 30 boroughs take to the field to compete for glory.
Our Swiss Cottage soccer stars played five games each, with both boys and girls teams winning three games, drawing one and losing one. Even with these great results Swiss Cottage missed out on quarter final places by the smallest margin with both boys and girls finishing in 9th place overall – a fantastic result!
Well done to all of the young people that took part and a special thank you to team coaches Anthony and Natasha who have done a fabulous job coaching these young people.Tags: Football, Hackney Marshes, London Youth Games
