Dear Parents, Carers, and Families,

We are writing to inform you that a staff member at our school has tested positive for COVID-19. This is the second case of COVID-19 for a staff member at Swiss Cottage School. We are working closely with the Camden and Islington Public Health department.

This staff member is not a teacher or teaching assistant working within a class ‘Bubble Zone’. This means there is a minimised risk of transmission to others across the school. No staff or pupils came in contact over a prolonged period with this member of staff because they were in self-isolation. There is no link between the two positive cases.

Our ‘Bubble Zones’ remain secure and Swiss Cottage School is still open.

We know that you may find this concerning and want to assure you that we are monitoring the situation. Please continue to monitor your child and family for symptoms.  The most common symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are:

  • a new continuous cough
  • a high temperature
  • a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)

Our staff continue to have access to disposable face masks, visors, disposable gloves, disposable aprons, and lanyard antibacterial gel spray. Every space across our school has antibacterial gel, classrooms have sinks for regular handwashing and windows for fresh air ventilation. Protocols are in place for the use of these where PPE is required. A summary of our safety measures is located on the school website here: September 2020 School safety measures

Parents and carers that come to school for the drop off / pick up of your child: thank you for following our process of waiting at the social distancing lines. It is now very important that you wear a face mask. This will help protect you and protect us. Please ensure you are wearing a face mask unless you have a medical condition that stops the use of one.

Our newsletter tomorrow will be focused on our process and plan if this we received a positive test result for a staff member or pupil within a ‘Bubble Zone’ so that we can work together and be prepared. The medium term planning and PLIMS will come next week in light of the two critical updates we received this week. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact reception on 02076818080 or email Thank you for the support.

Yours sincerely,
