Dear Families,
We planned an update to all families today about the potential impacts of the strike action, following updates we were expecting yesterday. We are expecting the majority of teachers to strike, and other staff such as teaching assistants supporting this strike action. There will be a picket line at the entrance to the school gates and other staff (support staff) may decide not to cross the picket line based on their union guidance.
This means most of our teachers will not be in school tomorrow and more than likely many support staff. Your child will not have known staff with them. There will be no class timetable of the curriculum. The aim will be to have a safe environment for those pupils who need the safety of the school environment
The senior leadership team is trying to contact you this morning between 9:45-11:00am to provide you with the update for your child.
The update will be:
a) Your child is able to come to school if they have:
- behaviour plan
- child protection plan
- allocated higher tier social worker
- complex medical profile requiring specialist support
- however, you can decide not to send them to school.
b) Your child should not come to school because their teacher is expected to strike and they do not have:
- behaviour plan
- child protection plan
- allocated higher tier social worker
- complex medical profile requiring specialist support
- however, if your feel your child is safer at school than at home please let us know.
- we will provide a £5 voucher if your child qualifies for Free School Meals and needs to stay at home
c) Your child's class teacher has confirmed they are not striking, their class will also be open.
- The school timetable is not taking place tomorrow. School dinners are still being made.
- We will update local authority transport today.
We will provide an update to families at the end of the day on the total numbers expected in school. This will also include information we have received from the National Education Union on their industrial action for national pay scales of teachers. Thank you.
Yours Sincerely,
Vijita
