Students from Middle School had fun representing Swiss Cottage School at today’s Panathlon Challenge at Westway Sports Centre. Our learners competed against a number of other SEN Schools from the London area and were proud to take second place! The Panathlon Challenge involves various sporting activities specifically designed to be more appropriate for young people with disabilities.
The day was a huge success with students picking up medals in a wide range of events including:
Gold – 1st place
Boccia, standing long jump, lower limb racing and powered wheelchair racing.
Silver – 2nd place
Polybat, new age kurling, power chair slalom, precision bean bag, seated shot putt, football U16s & U13s and wheel chair racing.
Bronze – 3rd place
Fast runners and table cricket.
Anthony Doherty, Disability Sports Development Officer said; “The learners demonstrated determination, great sportsmanship and really supported each other throughout the day.
The team and School staff were great, I was really inspired by the performance of the young people and we are now all-set for a very exciting second round.”
Well done to all the learners who competed in today’s event.Tags: panathalon, Sports
