Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope this finds you well and safe as lockdown continues across the country.

Our Head of School Monika Gaweda will be moving on to a new leadership role at the end of the summer term. Monika joined Swiss Cottage School in 2007 and has progressed from classroom teacher to middle leadership roles before being appointed as our Head of School. Monika has led important developments with our provision and school curriculum when we transitioned into the new school building in 2012. Monika is a valued member of the Swiss Cottage School family and we are going to miss her as a part of the Senior Leadership Team. We are sad but also very proud of the fantastic role she is progressing to as Head of School at another special school. We will continue to work with Monika in the future because of the partnership across both schools. We will celebrate Monika’s work with the school at the end of the academic year and ensure you can be a part of this process. The school is currently in the recruitment process and will share updates once that process is completed with our governing body.

We are pleased to share that class teacher Louise is returning from maternity leave on Monday. Louise is a teacher in the Upper School and a leader with the Informal Curriculum Pathway. We are excited to welcome her back to the school.

Thank you for the engagement and positive feedback with the Virtual School and weekly timetable of activities. We are pleased to hear that it is helpful for routines and structures with learning opportunities at home, and value the constructive feedback that is also coming through to help make it better. The Prime Minister is scheduled to update the country on Sunday. We will monitor the government’s assessment of the COVID-19 lockdown measures and update you on the impact for education and our school community. We wish every family a safe bank holiday weekend.

Take care,

Vijita Patel                   Rebecca Shaw
