As you may know, several unions are calling their members out on strike on Thursday 10th July.
Most staff at Swiss Cottage are members of one of these Unions, and so many will not be at work on Thursday. In addition, this strike includes School Transport staff, so we have to assume that their service is likely to be disrupted.
We do not know for sure yet, but from the information we have today, it is very likely that most of our classes will NOT be open on Thursday.
I am writing to you today about this, as I know how difficult it is for many of you to make alternative arrangements for the care of your children.
Please assume that your son/daughter will NOT be in school on Thursday, unless you hear to the contrary from us. If we can open a class, we will not be able to let you know until Wednesday, so please make arrangements.
I am sorry about this, as I know it’s not what you want to hear, and we work so hard to raise attendance here. However, staff are under attack from government changes to pay, pensions and terms and conditions, and their Unions have decided to take this action .Many staff here feel they have to support their Union. I respect their decision, although at the same time regretting the fact that this leads to school closure
